If you wanted to learn who I am, this is the place to be.

Hi, my name is Liam Valyani-Perera.

I'm trying to be a photographer, but I am also interested in creating experimental video work as well as writing. In general I just want to make art but I'm not confident in my abiliy to draw. I want to make art so much that I'm currently in school for photography, which I'd like to think is going well. To give you a sense of direction for where I want to go in life, the dream is to have a major exhibition in the Art Gallery of Ontario.

What about my work?

Truthfully, I find my work to be hard to describe. Most of my inspirations and ideas come by way of things that accidentally bubble up to the surface from my subconscious. I'd say I cast a fairly wide net with what I create. It ranges from playful and silly to serene and beautiful to anxious and afraid and back again.

There is one thing about my work that I can say for certain however, that is I do not enjoy editorial or fashion photography at all. This is not to discredit it as a practice that others partake in, it's just something that I find no joy in doing. Most of the reasoning for this is that it is simply not my thing, but a non-trivial amount is due to my great social anxiety. This leads me to avoid photographing people in totality if I can avoid it. though, not to toot my own horn, people tell me I am very talented at portraiture.
